Creating Resources for People Supporting Neurodivergent Learners

About Lisneyland ABA

I am dedicated to providing resources and support for individuals with autism. My goal is to empower parents and professionals with effective tools and insights.

Greetings! My name is Elizabeth Bart, BCBA, but you can call me Liz. I have been providing support for individuals with autism for over 30 years. My resources include visual aids, online interactive teaching tools, training and information, and engaging children’s books designed to enhance learning. I aim to empower parents and ABA professionals with effective strategies and insights to help them understand the children entrusted to their care. I am passionate about teaching learners to communicate, interact, and self-advocate effectively. My commitment is reflected in a wide range of resources in order to cater to the unique needs of each child, ensuring they receive the best possible support.

  • I have been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2011, and am committed to abiding by all of the ethics of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc.® (BACB®). If you are interested in learning about these very extensive ethical responsibilities any behavior analyst must commit to, click here to link the ethical guidelines found at the website www.BACB.com.
  • I am well aware of the many controversies surrounding ABA, and I understand why some people loved their experiences and some people hated their experiences. The bottom line is there is this: there are many “right” ways to do things, as well as many “wrong” ways. The “right” ways, in my opinion, involve listening to the learner in whatever ways they are communicating. It involves giving space when a person needs it. It involves creating achievable expectations and celebrating each step of progress. It involves acknowledging our own mistakes and fixing them immediately. It involves meeting a learner where they are, and working on goals that will be meaningful for the learner in their environment.
  • When I am considering what to work on with a learner, I think both long-term and short-term. What will make the most difference for the learner, their parents, and their teachers right now? But also, what can we put in place that will eventually help shape the kind of adult the person can be proud to be.
  • Positive behavioral approaches are always chosen, no matter what. They are more effective and they have less undesirable side effects. They build rapport and relationships instead of tearing them down. There is quite enough punishment available in the world right now. There is no reason to add to it.
  • It is so important to listen, observe, and evaluate what is happening before deciding how to move forward with any program or behavior intervention.

The mission of Lisneyland ABA is to help create a nurturing environment where neurodivergent individuals can thrive. I believe in the power of collaboration between parents, educators, and ABA professionals to achieve meaningful outcomes.
